Services
Since 1977, California Drug Counseling Inc. (CADC) has provided education, counseling and support to individuals with alcohol and substance abuse problems. We focus on meeting the needs of hard-to-reach, difficult and underserved populations in Los Angeles County.
Who we serve:
- Ex-offenders
- Incarcerated and paroled youth and adults
- Injection drug users or partners of injection drug users
- Special populations: unwed mothers-to-be with a substance addiction, developmentally disabled, individuals with mental health issues
- Any individual with an alcohol and/or drug addiction
- In an average month, we serve 25-45 clients in our Proposition 36 program, 50-100 clients in our Drug/MediCal program, and 100 clients in our HIV/AIDS program
What we provide:
- Drug and alcohol education and prevention
- HIV/AIDS education and prevention
- Individual counseling
- Group counseling
- STD and sex education
- Mental health counseling
- Peer educator/counselor training
- Job screening/placement (CARE Program; Riverside Fresh Start Program)
- Related support services: transportation assistance
- Random drug test (UA)

A sampling of our work with special populations:
- State of California Department of Alcohol and Drugs certified Medi-Cal provider of chemical and alcohol dependency prevention and treatment for Outpatient Drug-Free and Day Care Habilitative programs
- Los Angeles County Department of Probation
- California Department of Corrections recognized provider of drug abuse and pre-employment counseling
- California Department of Corrections Parolee Employment Program grant recipient for the CADC Fresh Start Program (Riverside). In this program, ex-offenders referred by Riverside parole are provided with assistance in job placement, housing, food and clothing procurement, transportation and more. Since its inception in February 2004, close to 1,000 parolees have completed the program. The Fresh Start Program is the successor to CADC’s Jobs Plus program, which started in 1992.
